[ ♡ ] Daily Outing – 10/23/10 Heartbreaker, MAC, Chaingmai Thai, & Kacen’s Rockin party

Today was nearly as busy as yesterday! We were supposed to have the LPT fall photoshoot at the U today but due to two main reasons we didn’t. First, it was supposed to be like %60 chance of rain and second, Obama was coming to make a speech so it was guaranteed packed. We succumbed to the weather foreast and postponed the photoshoot.

Instead, we were going to hang out and walk around uptown and guess what? No rain. There was even some sun! As we walked we kept saying how we still could do it because we originally had it scheduled for 2 and it was still early enough in the day to make it but then we would all have to go back and change. So we decided not to and to just walk around instead.

We parked at Calhoun square, took some pictures then shopped around. Later we ate lunch at ChiangMai Thai and it was really good! Here are some pictures from Uptown!

After Uptown with the girls I headed over to my baby cousin Kacen's 2nd birthday party. His parents rented their apartment community room to throw him the party. The theme was Rock because he loves music like his dad. I almost got him a guitar but decided against it because I figured he already had a few. I'm glad I got him the tamborine set instead though because two other people got him guitars but I'm afraid his neighbors wont like it because the set jingles even when you're just moving the box. Here are some pictures from his party.

Chong's girlfriend brought her dog and it was the cutest thing ever! Her name is Mimi and she's grey and had on a pink bow and I almost stole her! She was so adorable and well behaved! Cherish was so funny, she really wanted to touch Mimi but was scared so she pet the dog from afar and call to it lol!

[ ♡ ] Daily Outing – 10/22/10 Costumes, Hmong Village & Movie night

Friday was a jam packed day! Choua came by earlier in the day because Halloween is next week so we had to make her costume. It took longer than I thought it would because her fabrics were stretch so sewing them without the serger was a pain the butt. I had to sew super slow while feeding the fabric along so that it wouldn’t pull. After some adjusting on my part, it went more smoothly and turned out very cute. We did a black tube as a liner and then a strapless silver sequined dress with a sweetheart neckline on top as her main outfit.

Picks of my look of the day!

Christi was going to meet us up so we headed to Target to look for an E.L.F. encyclopedia smokey pallete for Choua because she liked mine (review coming!) But they didn’t have it. As soon as we got there Xti called and said she was here so we picked her up from my house and drove to Hmong Village because this Friday was my movie night and the movie I had in mind was an old old movie that I didn’t have. We went in and as soon as we got there, not even on the sidewalk to go into the door, these guys hollered at us and it was the funniest thing ever! They kept trying to talk even after we continued to ignore them lol! I mean, do people usually try to pick up girls at the flea market?

Anyways the new flea market called Hmong Village is huge and extremely complicated. I wish they had maps because not only are the vendors selling a lot of the same things but the layout is just confusing and they have a lot of entrances so I always get a little disoriented but I went in with a plan and a movie in mind so it made life a little easier. We picked a movie vender near the exit and looked around and I couldn’t find it but as soon as I was going to leave, I saw it, sitting there being all sneaky, right by christi’s head! It was one of those, OMG-I’m-so-lucky-I-found-it-right-before-I-left moments! So I got it for a mere $5 because it’s one of those old Hong Kong movies dubbed in Hmong that they recently started reproducing into dvds with shitty cover art quality. It’s called “sifu tub hluas” and it translates basically to “Young Master.” It’s an old movie I saw long ago and for some reason no one has seen it but me! It’s about a father and son duo that travel to Hong Kong from the mainland to rescue their master but they got separated due to an incident involving a hired assassin. The son meets an odd family and lots of laughs ensue! It’s a really funny movie but its also kind of sad. Its on youtube, I’ll find the link if anyone wants to see it.

After I got the movie, we went to Choua’s to pick up Lomien noodles because she wanted to make them for movie night and I wanted to see her sister’s kitten but turns out the kitten is a scary cat with sharp claws so I didn’t love it. So we left to midway Target to buy ingredients and again, they didn’t have the pallete Choua wanted ( two targets so far.)

Then we went to Mai’s and watched the movie. Here are some pics!

After the movie, we had a long girl talk and I knocked out before 12 lol. I was so disoriented walking out of Mai's apartment because my contacts were dry from sleeping so I was stumbling like a blind zombie. I knocked out as soon as I got home!

[ ♡ ] Daily Outing - Akita ( Sushi & Icecream)

So this is a late post but this is what I did Thursday with my sisters and cousin. Akita is a sushi buffet in Minnesota. Basically, you pay $30 a person and you can get all you can eat sushi. The sushi is pretty good, not spectacular but good. My favorite rolls are Akita (now number 9 roll,) and shrimp tempura roll. Their shrimp tempuras and dumplings are pretty good also! Here are some pictures from our sushi eating fun night!

[ ♡ ] Daily Outing – 10/19 Mai’s work place

I actually didn’t do anything today but I did go to my sister’s workplace to help her bring a chair downstairs into the car and then home. It’s from her coworker who bought it for $2 at some rummage sale but didn’t have space for it so my sister took it but its pretty cute! She cleaned it at work so there’s no old smell either which is always a plus!

[ ♡ ] Daily Outing – Café Latte & Grand Avenue

Yesterday I met up with Ph & Choua to go check out café latte on Grand and Victoria. We’ve never been there before and decided we would go see it. I’ve heard of it before and read reviews but have never had a chance to go because it was out of the way with no highways near and if you know me you know I can’t stand being on small roads too long.
Photobucket
But we went yesterday and it was better than I imagined! It was so cute and modern but still comfortable and gave off a vibe of ease and relaxation.
Photobucket
Here is what it looks like when you enter and it’s actually located on the corner inside a mini-plaza with a small boutique in back and next to Bonfire. The café functions sort of like a cafeteria or mall eatery where you grab a tray and go down the line deciding what you want and then pay at the end.

Ph got a ceaser salad with wheat bread. Choua got a pasta and I got a chicken ceaser pasta with sourdough bread. What’s great about Café Latte were the extremely cheap prices! My meal was $6! And it was delicious!
After paying, we went upstairs and let me tell you it was a feat! I had on only semi-heels but if you look at the picture of the staircase going up, you’ll see that the steps don’t have a filled in backing so if you put your foot in there too far, you get stuck and fall and die lol so I was super careful walking up.

Here is my pasta salad, it was great! The other great thing about being upstairs is the view. It really reminded me of being in a second floor café in Korea!
Photobucket
After we left café latte and I went to change parking spots (30 min limit before) we walked around grand ave and found a store called Ten thousand villages.
Photobucket
It’s actually a great store because its fair trade with handmade things from villages all over the world where the makers name their own prices. On each product tag, it tells where the product is from.

After that we went down to Dale & Selby where I saw a boutique earlier called Primp but when we got there, the sign said it was closed on Mondays so we made a plan to go back on Friday!
